Remember, Monday, July 1st is our official start!
Summer Readers! If you've read any books and written them on your reading pages, bring the pages to the library. You can put the pages into the folder for your grade, guess at the number of gum balls (one guess for every five books or for every four hours!) and decorate a marker--a buffalo, a guitar or a stagecoach--for every five books or four hours you've written down too!
Young Readers! For every five books you've read or had read to you, you can put your name in for another chance at the Young Readers Drawing. You can also decorate a marker--a buffalo, a guitar or a stagecoach--for every five books written down on your reading page.
The first set of prizes for the first prize drawing are now in the Catch the Beat display case, on the right side as you come into the Youth Services Room. Check them out! Our first prize drawing will be on Monday, July 16th. We will pull the winning names from the entries in the guessing jar and the drawing jar, so make sure you bring in your reading and put your names in! You must be in the reading or young readers programs to win, so make sure we have your reading folder pages at the library!
Next week, will be Catch the Beat...in North America! Our craft will be Bull Roarers (some people call them Buzz Saws) a Native American buzzing toy! Because of the holiday, we don't have any special programs planned, but we hope you'll come in anyway! Remember...we have air conditioning!

Did you know tomorrow is the ICE CREAM SOCIAL to kick off the Summer Reading Program? If you don't, why not?!?
Come to the library for ice cream sundaes, and sign up for the reading programs at the same time. You don't even have to come in to see me...just look for Youth Services Staff (Kelly, Beth, Karen, Shannon, Jennie, Iris and Laura) with star-shaped balloons and clipboards wandering around outside! They can sign you up AND explain how the program works!
See you tomorrow!
